Never Clean Out My Desk Again

I’m selling my house. In moving, my small antique oak desk will go in storage because I found a much bigger desk I’ll be using instead. Of necessity, I must clean out all my desk drawers. I admit, cleaning out my desk is not part of my spring cleaning ritual, so there were some surprises when I dug to the back of the drawers.

  • I found a Boy Scout patch I never sewed on my son’s uniform.
  • I found markers for overhead transparencies from last century.
  • I found cords for electronics I’ve long since retired.
  • I found a mouse so old that the connector won’t hookup to any of my computers.
  • I found Chamber of Commerce directories that were 4 and 5 years old.

Taking it all out and sorting into trash bags and moving boxes for the move is the easy part. In my new desk, I will organize each drawer space for a specific purpose and keep things where they belong. It will increase my productivity , clean up the clutter and decrease my stress.

Why bother? Because not only is cleaning and organizing my desk an important chore to do, but if I do it right, I’ll never do it again.
